A Wedding to Remember

Yesterday, I went to a wedding and reception that I’ll remember for a long time to come.

This wasn’t about a spectator show, where there was the audience watching the bride and groom do their thing.

And, this wasn’t just an incredible joining together of two very different cultures. The bride was born in Liberia but immigrated to the US at a young age with family. And the groom was born and raised here, with cultural roots in the United States.

But, this was a community celebration of two becoming one. I could sense the energy, joy, and love in everything — what they did, how the ceremony and reception were conducted, and how we were all included and involved, regardless of culture or race — in the song and dance of bringing these two together in matrimony. What wonderful festivities.

Congratulations to the couple!
