We went to Target today, on a regular, weekly run.
And we saw a catchy Harry Potter display soon after stepping in.
We had no clue they were having a 20th anniversary event going on, from 11 am to 1 pm at Target, July 21, 2018, which was today. None.

There was a large, beautiful LEGO Harry Potter owl: Hedwig, on display. I had to take a photograph. Of course, I did.

Target had free giveaways to share. That was delightful. I didn’t take a picture of all of the cool papers they gave, but here is some of the loot:
- a LEGO Harry Potter sack.
- a leather Harry Potter key chain.
- a Harry Potter bookmark.

We were told more Harry Potter stuff could be found elsewhere in the store. We saw t-shirts. Puppy dog eyes stared back at me.
And, I gave in.
We picked through the different styles to find the right sizes. That took awhile.
Of course, we had to take a turn at the LEGO section. There wasn’t anything new (still talking about Harry Potter). One of the kiddos already got the Aragog set recently. But, the nearby Sorting Hat provided some amusement.
At the self-checkout, we talked about the fact that one of the kiddos has read each of the Harry Potter books thirty-one times (and counting).
A Target employee we hadn’t seen approached us and asked whether we were the ones who bought a bunch of Harry Potter stuff.
Yes, indeed.
She told us when we were done, she had one more Harry Potter surprise for us.
I had no idea what Alexis had for us. Or what to expect.
Perhaps she was going to show us something.
One of the kiddos thought she was going to take us back to the front of the store, where bags, keychains, and papers were being given away. Been there, done that.
But, whatever was fine with me.
We followed Alexis when we finished making our purchases, and…,
wait for it…,
wait….
Are you ready?
Are you sure?
I wasn’t (prepared).

This was handed to us,
as our parting gift.
What a way to make this single Mama’s day.
Thank you, dear Heather, for coming up with the idea of blessing us with the LEGO Hedwig; and Hannah and Alexis, for helping and surprising us. What thoughtful and kind individuals. And, thank you, Target for making that possible.

You made our day.
